Silas’ Taco TWOsday Party

Tags:

My baby is TWO!! I just can’t wrap my head around that fact. It honestly feels like we just celebrated his FIRST birthday party!! It’s nuts how quickly time goes when you’ve got kids. When I was young, time moved sooooooooooooo slooooooooooooow………………………..THEN as soon as I became a mom life went into hyperdrive! Unbelievable!

But on the bright side, each year brings more adventure, joy, laughter, and love…and CAKE!! If, like me, you’re crying over your little ones growing up, take comfort in the fact that each birthday celebration has cake! Cake makes everything bearable!!

In addition to cake, there are two other things I just ADORE:

  1. Tacos
  2. Party Planning

Luckily, I found a way to combine these two passions:

Taco TWOsday

I had a blast putting together this party…it was colorful and FUN just as every party should be.

Here are the details:

I ordered these amazing fiesta flags from Oriental Trading Company and they set the tone for the entire party. I love the bright colors!! Get ready to see these bad boys resurface for Cinco de Mayo. They’re adorable!

The table runner was a last-minute creation. I had ordered this fringe backdrop to use as a table runner. My plan was to lay them flat on the table at staggering lengths (to show each color) and use them to tie in the table to the flags above. But when I stood back to see the effect, it was too flat…the table needed more height. I ended up just flipping them all over to create a wave effect and I loved it! It was a little on the wild and messy side, but it was perfect for the setting.

These adorable mini piñatas were perfect additions to the table décor, although they didn’t last long on the table. They ended up as decorations in the PJ Mask HQ…thank you boys.

When I sit down to plan a party, I always start with the cake. The cake is always my centerpiece when planning the tablescape because it embodies the theme and adds height to the table. Have you ever known someone to be so passionate about cake? Cake is important, man!! Important to a party and in LIFE!! Haha

These Mexican embroidery cakes are all over Pinterest and I LOVE them…I think they’re so clever. Unfortunately, this cake didn’t come out exactly the way I had hoped, but it still tasted delicious. The downside of moving to a new place is having to find a new bakery for party cakes. We had an AMAZING bakery in Vegas that not only made delicious cakes, but also amazing designs.

I worked with a local bakery on this cake and even though she had images of my décor pieces and I very clearly explained that I wanted bright colors, her frosting colors were too dark…still better than I could have done myself, but not what I wanted. Her flavors were amazing…but yeah, I think I’ll try another bakery for Liev’s birthday in December.

All-in-all we had a blast…an amazing Taco TWOsday party!
