Strawberry Banana Yogurt Popsicles

This is our first summer in Vegas and nothing could have prepared us for just how UNBEARABLY hot it gets. My sister and her family lived in Vegas about ten years ago and I remember spending tons of time here, but for some reason, I don’t remember it ever being this hot.

We can’t spend time outside or do any outdoor activities. We can’t take Sam for walks because the ground will burn his paws. The kids and the dog are going stir crazy being kept indoors all day long and I’m going crazy from their craziness.

The good news is this heat is the perfect excuse to eat ice cream all day long. Of course, now that I’m in my thirties I can’t actually do that without blowing up like a blimp, and since I don’t like Liev eating too much sugar I had to come up with a HEALTHY way to do it…for Liev AND Sam. I decided to try my hand at homemade popsicles and PUPsicles. The best part, as is always the case with “homemade”, is that I know exactly what is going into these frozen treats, and that makes this mama very happy.

STRAWBERRY BANANA YOGURT POPSICLES:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 pint strawberries
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ cup yogurt

Combine all in blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Place fresh strawberry slices into popsicle molds. Pour blended mixture into mold and freeze until solid-about 5 hours.

Banana Peanut Butter PUPsicles

BANANA PEANUT BUTTER YOGURT PUPSICLES:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup peanut butter, smooth
  • 1 cup yogurt, low fat

Combine all in blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Spoon mixture into ice cube trays and place a bone in center of each cube. Freeze until solid—about 5 hours.

The bone “handle” is optional since it serves no functional purpose whatsoever…but don’t they look adorable?
